THINK is the operative word in Think Like A Negotiator, and also in upcoming other ‘Think’ programs (Think Like A Leader, Think Like A Speaker). THINK is an acronym in this lesson that stands for Trust, Horsepower, Integrity, Negotiation, and Knowledge. These are the five foundational principles included in Think Like A Leader and five of the ten foundations for leading an engaged life.
Trust is a belief that someone is reliable, good, or honest. It is assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.
Horsepower is the capacity to achieve or produce; strength or talent. It was originally developed as a unit of measure to determine the power that a horse gives when pulling, and it is used informally to mean power, or power needed.
Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one else is looking. It’s making integrity-based decisions with yourself so you can make integrity-based decisions in every area of life.
In Think Like A Negotiator, negotiation is about getting people to agree with you in an ethical way. It is discussions to reach an agreement. We negotiate every day of our lives, and mastering negotiation skills both personally and professionally will make us more powerful in every area of our lives.
Knowledge isn’t just about knowing, it’s about seeking and continually growing. It’s constantly seeking to learn more about yourself, your job, your business, people, or whatever you’re working on.
See you next week!
